Pokjuka hosted the opening leg of the BMW IBU World Cup for the first time. 9 days of competition were a challenge that the organizers had aproached with pride and enthusiasm. Thousands of fans visited Pokljuka. The weather was not favourable at all times, but the conditions were stable and fair. Even though one race had to be postponed due to fog.
Jiri Hamza, the 1st Vice President of the IBU was happy with the efforts of OC Pokljuka: “Pokljuka is a wonderful and an important venue. I couldn’t find a flaw, everything was in order. Personally I liked it a lot that we have started the season here in Pokljuka. I have to say the OC really outdone themselves this year. There is a lot of biathlon tradition here and we can all look forward to the next World Cup that Pokljuka will host in the next season and then the IBU World Championships in two years time.”
