At the conclusion of the IBU Open European Championships Biathlon in Sjusjøen (Norway), a symbolic flag handover took place, with which the organizers of the next championships officially took over the hosting duties. The handover of the flag marked the official confirmation that Pokljuka will host the 2027 IBU OECH, which will take place from January 25 to 31, 2027. The flag was accepted on behalf of the Organizing Committee Pokljuka by Matej Oblak, who was at the venue in the role of technical delegate/referee.
The competition program is expected to be spread over four competition days and will include a total of eight races, which means four days of top-level biathlon action at Rudno polje. Immediately after the European Championships, the IBU Cup competitions are also scheduled to continue, making Pokljuka once again an important center for international biathlon.
