On Saturday, we joined forces on Pokljuka and successfully carried out a volunteer work and clean-up action, symbolically marking the first International Biathlon Day.
A heartfelt thank you to all 158 participants – members of the Športno društvo Pokljuka, clubs of the Biathlon Committee, staff of the Pokljuka Centre, and numerous other volunteers, nature lovers, and friends of Pokljuka – for contributing your time and effort to improve the appearance of the biathlon center.
We cleaned the surroundings of the Pokljuka Sports Centre, removed most of the woodchips that were used for the March World Cup, fully prepared the roller-ski tracks, collected litter, and tidied up the recreational area of the centre.
Despite a chilly morning with temperatures around just 1°C, the work (and later the Sun) quickly warmed us up. After completing the clean-up, we enjoyed some well-earned gathering and food and drinks – and of course, the traditional “šmorn” was not missing.
The International Biathlon Day added a special atmosphere to the event, with additional activities prepared for visitors, who could try shooting with a laser rifle and experience firsthand just how demanding biathlon can be.
Once again, thank you all for your participation – see you next time!
