Pokljuka said farewell to Jakov Fak

The Sunday events in Pokljuka were also dedicated to the emotions surrounding the farewell of Slovenia’s most successful biathlete to date, Jakov Fak.

The biathlete, who has won nine races in his career, including two gold medals at the World Championships and a total of 28 podium finishes, twice at the Olympic Games, was honoured by Slovenian fans and the staffint Pokljuka, led by the president of the World Cup organising committee, Jelko Kacin, as well as his teammates from the national team.

Fak intends to end his sports career after the next Olympic season when there will be no races in Pokljuka. Therefore, this year’s home race was his last. The farewell of one of the country’s best winter sports athletes was also attended by ministers Matjaž Han and Borut Sajovic. The common wish of those present, with Fak once again accompanied by his family in Pokljuka, was – never say never, many things can change.

Perhaps the biathlete will reconsider for another year.
