Attendees of the IBU Junior Open European Championships Biathlon in Pokljuka were able to notice a team with white vests carrying a logo of the Biathlon Integrity Unit, and were in charge of the proper anti-doping procedures. The goal of this unit is to protect the integrity of this sport and to ensure a clean and trusted sport.
The Biathlon Integrity Unit is specialised and independent unit of the International Biathlon Union, which handles a variety of matters in biathlon, such as anti-doping, ethical breaches, betting-related issues and result manipulations. They investigate and prosecute violations to protect the integrity of sport and ensure the IBU complies with their obligations under WADA World Anti-Doping Code, IBU Constitution and IBU rules.
