Slovenian biathlete Teja Gregorin saved the sweetest for last. In today's fairy-tale idyll in Pokljuka she perfectly merged her cross-country and shooting skills and finished in high 5th place. She enthusiastically greeted many Slovenian fans in the stadium that gathered in Pokljuka and with joy accepted Teja's Christmas gift. Today's 10-kilometer pursuit race was the last World Cup race in the year 2009.
Pokljuka's heroes are known. Teja Gregorin and Klemen Bauer completed the year 2009 with their best results in this season so far. After Teja's fifth place Klemen also exploded in pursuit race and in finish enjoyed his deserved 7th place: »I showed that I can do what I have already shown in trainings. I think everything will be much easier now.«
The President of International Biathlon Union Andres Besseberg announced on October 13 that Pokljuka will organise Biathlon World Cup races for the 2009/2010 season.
Russian Svetlana Slepcova was the best at today’s sprint in snowy, windy and cold conditions in Pokljuka. Despite extremely difficult conditions 23-year old did perfect job on the shooting range.
Girls will conclude busy Pokljuka weekend tomorrow with pursuit race. Among 60 biathletes we will only have one Slovenian. Teja Gregorin will have number 13 and we are not superstitious and hope it will be the lucky one for her.
Thirteenth place was in today's sprint trials reserved for the best Slovenian competitors. After Teia Gregorin the same place was occupied by Klemen Bauer.
In tomorrow's men pursuit race, which will start at 14.15, we will have three Slovenian representatives. Klemen Bauer will start as 13th, a little more than a minute after today’s winner.
