Pokljuka - 17.01.2007 Report of the first competition day

The first competition day in Pokljuka is behind us. 77 competitors started in women sprint competition. Swedish team was the most successful again.
Anna Carin Olofsson is now holder of the yellow and the red bib for the first in sprint and total. She told that her skis were very well prepared for the today’s snow conditions and the shooting range conditions were stable although she missed one standing. She is a serious candidate for the cup winner and she has big expectations for the upcoming World Championships in Antholz next month. The question is whether she is the successor of Magdalena Forsberg. In the second place was Russian Tatyana Moiseeva (0,0) and in the third Kati Wilhelm (0,1). She keeps a link to the top in the total score with 22 points behind Olofsson.

Slovenian biathletes were very successful today. Three in nineteen is a great result. Teja Gregorin was 8th, Tadeja Brankovič 16th and Dijana Grudiček 19th. In the pursuit on Friday four will start.

Andreja Koblar (former Grašič) had a farewell performance today. She arrived to the shooting range with the Slovenian flag in her hands. In the first shooting she missed one then she run a penalty loop and finished the race. This action was followed by a great applause from spectators meaning: “Thanks Andreja and good luck in the future.”
