Clean Pokljuka waiting for winter

Nature lovers gathered in Pokljuka and made sure the plateau will get in the winter spirit clean and friendly. They have gathered the waste that has no place in nature. The event Očistimo Pokljuko (Let's clean Pokljuka) has become traditional in the last few years and is part of the Slovene initiative Očistimo gore (Let's clean the mountains). The focus of this initiative is to raise awareness about the importance of clean environment especially in the mountains.

 

The biathlon season is getting closer. Rudno polje will host the Junior Open European Championships and IBU Junior Cup from the 29th of January to 4th of February 2018. Even though we are still waiting for the first snow, the conditions for training are almost ideal and many biathletes, not only from Slovenia, are enjoying the sunny and warm weather.

Bled

Bled with its surroundings is one of the most beautiful alpine resorts. With its picturesque lake, idyllic island and the mysterious castle it attracts tourists from all over the world. Ever since 1992, it is, together with Pokljuka, hosting the world's best biathletes.

Bohinj

Bohinj is the cradle of winter sports in Slovenia. As well as Pokljuka, it is located in the middle of Triglav National Park, in the heart of the Julian Alps. Its greatest natural attraction is Lake Bohinj, which is also the largest natural lake in Slovenia.

Slovenian biathlon team

Pokljuka is a second home of the Slovenian biathlon team. The World champion Jakov Fak, World vice champion Teja Gregorin and members of the Silver Mixed Relay carry out the majority of their training on the World cup courses in Rudno polje.
